DS3
Description
Loop Telecom's DS3 plug-in card is a module designed for the Loop-V 4200-28 Integrated Multiservice Access Platform (IMAP). The DS3 card is used to terminate a DS3 line and separate the DS3 signal into up to 21 E1 (frames or unframed) or 28 T1 (framed) signals. For redundancy, 1 + 1 protection can be obtained by using two cards. Because the maximum capacity of a DS3 line is 28 DS1s (for T1), only one Loop-V 4200-28 is required, as it has 28 low speed ports which can all be filled with T1 modules.
Full time slot interchange is available, as any time slot, or block of time slots, from any incoming low-speed device can be mapped to any one of the E1/T1 DS1s contained within the DS3.
Multicolor LEDs provide status indication for power/standby, LOS, LOF and test. Internal firmware is stored in flash memory so that future software upgrades can be downloaded.
The Loop-V 4200 series supports local control and diagnostics by using a VT-100 terminal connected to the console port. The Loop-V 4200 series also supports Ethernet, Telnet, and SNMP, so that it can be controlled and diagnosed from remote locations.
